Zhiqing ranked #1 in Excel World Champion (China Region), and won a Surface Book, a Huawei M3 tablet, and Office 365 subscription.

This competition is held by Microsoft. Contestants were required to use Microsoft Excel to solve varied problems in a limited time. More information on this contest can be found in Microsoft Tech Community.

Zhiqing Xiao obtained his doctoral degree in engineering from Tsinghua University.

Zhiqing won the National Scholarship for Graduate Student in 2015. National Scholarship for Graduate Student, is the most well known and highly recognized scholarship in China. It is the only scholarship issued by ministry of education, P. R. China. The amount of this scholarship in 30k CNY.

Paper "Distributed Multilevel Diversity Coding", authored by Zhiqing Xiao, Jun Chen, Yunzhou Li, and Jing Wang, is published online in IEEE Transactions on Information Theory on Sep. 9, 2015. Prof. Jun Chen is the supervisor and the corresponding author of this paper.

According to wikipedia, "among hundreds of computer science-related journals, IEEE Transactions on Information Theory had the highest ranking and was thus deemed the most prestigious."

​Zhiqing started to be an intern student at ECOM department, Baidu Inc. ECOM, which means business searching in Chinese, is the department who determines the appearance and ranking of advertisements in all Baidu's products.

Zhiqing will analyze real offline data using Hadoop streaming to increase the return on investment (ROI) of advertisements.

​IEEE 81st Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC2015-Spring) was held in Glasgow from May 11, 2015 to May, 14 2015.

Zhiqing presented research results in Session 2E: Channel Coding (May 12 PM) and Workshop 1: 3rd International Workshop on 5G Mobile and Wireless Communication Systems for 2020 and Beyond (MWC2020) (May 11 AM).

​McMaster Programming Cup is a programming contest alike ACM/ICPC but organized by McMaster Programming Club. The 2015 McMaster Programming Cup was held at room IAHS 358, McMaster University on Feb 9, 2015.

The team 'kindergartenMac', which consists of three ECE students Zhiqing Xiao, Wei Zhao, and Dejun Huang, ranked the first and won the cup.

​McMaster University is one of the most famous and prestigious universities in Ontario Canada.

​IEEE Information Theory Workshop 2014 (ITW2014) was held in Hobart Ausralia in Nov. 3, 2014. Zhiqing presented his latest research result on interactive communication in this workshop.

Zhiqing was a Teaching Assistant (TA) of the course "Modern Communication Principle", which is an undergraduate course provided by Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University. The lecture of the course is Prof. Xiaofeng Qiu.

Durign July - Aug. 2013, Zhiqing interned in Linyang (Shanghai: 601222), a high-tech company in Nantong, China. He worked on MAC-layer of IEEE 802.15.3 protocol.

The newspaper "Tsinghua Graduate Student" (Issue 356) published Zhiqing's article "Adjustment of Internet Access Fee in Tsinghua University - Causes and Debates", which discusses the ongoing adjustment of Internet access fee.
